Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is a major Hindu pilgrimage site in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, and one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas. The temple's main lingam is unusual as it faces south, a rare orientation. Visitors experience the famous Bhasma Aarti performed daily at dawn, where ashes from the cremation ghat are used to anoint the lingam. The temple complex features a five-tiered spire and a large courtyard where devotees gather. The atmosphere is deeply spiritual, with the sound of bells and chanting filling the air.
