Alipiri serves as the gateway for pilgrims undertaking the traditional foot journey to the Tirumala hill shrine. The site includes a temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, where many offer prayers before beginning the ascent. The footpath, known as the Alipiri Mettu, winds through the hills for about 11 kilometers, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and forests. Along the way, there are rest shelters and water points. Alipiri itself is a bustling area with shops selling offerings and snacks. The atmosphere is charged with devotion and anticipation as pilgrims prepare for the climb.
