Anchuthengu, meaning 'five coconut palms,' is a historic coastal village about 36 km from Thiruvananthapuram. It is home to a 17th-century British fort built by the East India Company in 1695, making it one of the oldest European fortifications in Kerala. The fort, now in ruins, overlooks the Arabian Sea and offers panoramic views. Adjacent is an old British cemetery with weathered tombstones dating back to the 1700s. The site is a peaceful spot for history buffs and those seeking a quiet seaside escape, with the added charm of a fishing village.
