Punnainallur Mariamman Temple is a popular Hindu shrine in Thanjavur, dedicated to the goddess Mariamman, a form of Shakti associated with rain and healing. The temple is especially known for its annual festival, usually in July–August, which draws large crowds. During the festival, devotees participate in fire-walking ceremonies, carry kavadi (decorated burdens), and witness processions with the goddess’s idol.
