Nishat Bagh, meaning 'Garden of Joy,' is a 12-terraced Mughal garden built in 1633 by Asif Khan, brother of Empress Nur Jahan. Set along the shores of Dal Lake, it offers a classic Mughal landscape design with flowing water channels, chinar trees, and flowerbeds. Visitors stroll through the terraces, each offering a different perspective of the lake and the distant Pir Panjal range. The central water cascade, flanked by stone pavilions, is a highlight. It's a peaceful spot for picnics and photography, especially in spring when flowers bloom.

Don't miss

  • The 12 terraces with a central water channel that flows into Dal Lake
  • Panoramic views of Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Mountains from the top terrace
  • Ancient chinar trees and Mughal-era stone pavilions along the garden
