Dal Lake is the heart of Srinagar, a vast urban lake surrounded by the Pir Panjal mountains. Visitors experience the lake by taking a shikara ride, a traditional wooden boat that glides through floating gardens, lotus patches, and past ornate houseboats. The lake is divided into four basins, each with its own character, and includes floating markets where vendors sell fresh produce and handicrafts. The experience is serene and quintessentially Kashmiri, offering a unique perspective on local life.
