The Son Bhandar Caves are two man-made caverns carved into a hillside in Rajgir, known for their historical inscriptions and religious significance. The larger cave bears a Brahmi inscription that has been dated to the 3rd–4th century CE, referencing a Jain saint, while the smaller cave is simpler. These caves are thought to have been used by Jain or Buddhist ascetics for meditation and dwelling. Visitors can examine the inscriptions and imagine the ascetic life that once thrived here.
