Aga Khan Palace

A bit of history

Built in 1892 by Aga Khan III as a charitable project to provide employment during a famine. During the Quit India Movement in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba, and secretary Mahadev Desai were imprisoned here. Kasturba and Mahadev Desai died within the palace walls, and their samadhis are located on the grounds.
