Odantapuri, located near Nalanda, was a renowned Buddhist monastery and university established in the 8th century CE. It is considered one of the earliest residential universities in India, predating Nalanda. Visitors can explore the excavated ruins of stupas, cells, and courtyards that once housed hundreds of monks. The site offers a glimpse into ancient Buddhist education and monastic life, with its symmetrical layout and brick structures. Though less famous than Nalanda, Odantapuri holds immense historical significance as a precursor to later monastic universities.
