Thanneermukkom is a lakeside village in Kuttanad, renowned for its proximity to the Thanneermukkom Bund. The village itself is a cluster of homes and toddy shops along narrow roads, with Vembanad Lake stretching to the horizon. Visitors come to see the bund, watch fishing boats, and enjoy the calm backwater atmosphere. The area is also a starting point for houseboat cruises into the lake's southern reaches. It's less commercial than Kumarakom proper, retaining a rural charm.

Don't miss

  • Watch sunset over Vembanad Lake from the village shore
  • Observe local fishing boats and coir-making along the waterfront
  • Walk or cycle the quiet village roads between paddy fields
