This is one of the finest and one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in the city. It is family-run and has achieved legendary status amongst the locals. Well, rightfully so! This isn’t fancy and this doesn’t have any bells and whistles that the newer restaurants have. It doesn’t need to. The food here is delicious and the quality is top notch. So, the reputation of Eau Chew precedes itself. It opens up in regular intervals of 12pm - 3pm and then 6pm - 10pm and is a must visit for any Asian food aficionado or just anyone who wants to try out mouthwatering Chinese cuisine.
Good Chinese flavour, ambiance also good. Must try Roasted Chilli Pork, Chimney Soup is good test but it's like almost clear soup so, if you like thik soup then it's not for you. Josephine Rice & Noodles nice test but both are gravy.
A close friend of ours called us over for lunch to Eau Chew - the Old Signature Restaurant in that part of Kolkata which housed ethnic Chinese not long ago (sadly, the numbers have dwindled to a trickle). If you're at Eau Chew, you don't really flip through the Menu - the only decider is whether it's the Josephine noodles or rice - we settle for the Rice. The Chimney soup oozing with large helpings of chicken, seafood and fish (as also some BokChoy), the chilli pork (cooked just good enough not to be the crispy savouries), a large helping of mixed hakka noodles - and you leave satisfied and accomplished. The cardinal rule when you're at Eau Chew - DON'T LOOK FOR AMBIENCE, NOR THE FINE CUTLERY OR FOR LIVERIED WAITERS - these are the distractors when you're gorging on a sumptuous lunch!
Good but not as great as it was before . The prices have skyrocketed too If you are a large group try out the chimney soup surely
