Ananthasayana Temple is a small but remarkable shrine located near the main Hampi bazaar, dedicated to Vishnu in his reclining form (Anantha Shayana). The temple's centerpiece is a colossal, 8-meter-long statue of Vishnu lying on the serpent Shesha, carved from a single granite rock. The carving is exceptionally detailed, showing Vishnu with four arms holding a conch, discus, mace, and lotus, while Brahma emerges from a lotus growing from his navel. The open-air structure, with its plain pillars and simple sanctum, allows visitors to view the statue up close in natural light. This site offers a quiet, contemplative contrast to the more crowded temples in the area.
