The Great Buddha Statue, also known as the 80-foot Buddha, is a monumental statue located in Bodh Gaya, near the Mahabodhi Temple. Unveiled in 1989, it was built by the Daijokyo Buddhist sect of Japan and stands 25 meters (82 feet) tall. The statue depicts Buddha seated in the dhyana mudra (meditation pose) on a large lotus throne. Made of sandstone blocks, it is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden with fountains and smaller Buddha statues.
