Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1915, is one of the oldest protected areas in the Darjeeling region, covering over 38 square kilometers of temperate forests and alpine meadows. It is home to a variety of Himalayan wildlife, including barking deer, wild boar, Himalayan black bears, and numerous bird species like the Kalij pheasant.
