Raniji ki Baori, or the Queen's Stepwell, is one of Bundi's most exquisite architectural treasures. Built in 1699 by Rani Nathavati, wife of Rao Raja Anirudh Singh, it descends four storeys into the earth. The stepwell is famed for its profusion of carved pillars, brackets, and arches, each adorned with floral motifs, elephants, and geometric patterns. Sunlight filters down to the water level, creating a play of light and shadow on the stone. Unlike many stepwells, it remains well-preserved, offering visitors a cool, tranquil retreat from the town's bustle.
