Nawal Sagar Lake is a square-shaped artificial lake built in the 17th century by Rao Raja Anirudh Singh. It lies at the center of Bundi, reflecting the town's palaces and the Taragarh Fort in its placid waters. The lake is dotted with small islands, one of which houses a temple dedicated to Varuna, the Hindu god of water. A paved walkway encircles the lake, making it a favorite spot for evening promenades. Visitors can also enjoy paddle boating, watching local life unfold along the ghats, and feeding the ducks that gather at dusk.

Don't miss

  • Take a paddle boat ride on the lake for a different perspective of Bundi's skyline
  • Walk the perimeter path at sunset to see the fort and palaces reflected in the water
  • Visit the small Varuna temple on the island in the center of the lake
