Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is a unique mosque constructed in the 12th century within the remains of a Jain temple. Its name, meaning 'shed of two and a half days,' is a misnomer; the structure was built over several years. The mosque features a stunning blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles, with intricately carved pillars, a grand prayer hall, and a seven-arched screen. Visitors marvel at the Sanskrit and Arabic inscriptions, as well as the delicate stonework. The site offers a peaceful atmosphere and a glimpse into India's syncretic past.

Don't miss

  • Admire the fusion of Hindu motifs and Islamic arches in the prayer hall.
  • Examine the ancient inscriptions in Sanskrit and Arabic on the walls.
  • Photograph the seven-arched screen (maqsura) with its intricate carvings.
