The Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah is a delicate marble mausoleum built between 1622 and 1628 by Empress Nur Jahan for her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Often considered a draft of the Taj Mahal, it features intricate pietra dura inlay with semi-precious stones, intricate marble screens, and a symmetrical garden setting. The tomb's smaller scale allows close-up appreciation of its craftsmanship, including floral motifs and geometric patterns that seem to glow in the sunlight.

Don't miss

  • Examine the intricate marble screens (jali) that filter light
  • Admire the detailed pietra dura floral inlays on the interior walls
  • Walk the peaceful charbagh garden with its water channels
