Mehtab Bagh is a tranquil Mughal-era garden complex located on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal. Designed as a charbagh (four-part garden), it provides one of the best vantage points for viewing the Taj Mahal, particularly during sunset when the marble monument glows in warm hues. Visitors can stroll along manicured pathways, relax by the riverfront, and capture iconic photographs. The garden also houses the remains of a small octagonal pavilion, believed to have been part of a larger riverfront complex. Its peaceful atmosphere offers a welcome escape from the crowds at the Taj.
Don't miss
- Unobstructed sunset views of the Taj Mahal across the river
- The charbagh layout with symmetrical pools and pathways
- Ruins of an octagonal pavilion near the riverbank
