Akbar's Tomb in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra, is the final resting place of the third Mughal emperor, Akbar the Great. Built between 1605 and 1613, the mausoleum is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, blending red sandstone with white marble inlay. The tomb is set within a vast charbagh garden, with a grand gateway featuring four minarets. The main structure is a five-tiered pyramid, topped by a marble cenotaph inscribed with the 99 names of Allah. Visitors can explore the quiet gardens, admire the intricate carvings, and climb to the top for panoramic views. The site reflects Akbar's syncretic vision, incorporating elements from Hindu, Jain, and Islamic traditions.
