Dyrhólaey Lighthouse is a historic beacon perched on a 120-meter-high promontory, marking the southernmost point of Iceland's mainland. The site provides breathtaking panoramic views of the black sand beaches, the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. In summer, the cliffs are a nesting ground for puffins and other seabirds. A short walk from the parking area leads to the lighthouse, where visitors can soak in the rugged coastal scenery and watch waves crash against the arch-shaped rock formation below.

Don't miss

  • Scan for puffins nesting on the cliffs from June to August.
  • Photograph the iconic arch-shaped rock formation from the viewpoint.
  • Enjoy 360-degree views of the coastline, glacier, and black sand beaches.
