Héðinsfjarðargöng is a 11-kilometer road tunnel that cuts through the rugged Tröllaskagi mountains, connecting the town of Siglufjörður with the eastern region. Opened in 2010, it replaced a treacherous mountain pass and is one of Iceland's longest tunnels. Driving through, you experience dramatic rock walls and occasional glimpses of the fjord. The tunnel is a key part of the scenic route around the peninsula, making remote areas accessible year-round. Visitors often stop at viewpoints near the entrances to admire the stark landscape.
