While the tunnel itself is not yet open, the surrounding area provides stunning views of the rugged highland landscape, including vast plateaus and distant peaks. Visitors can drive partway along the road to see construction progress and enjoy the raw, windswept beauty of the heath. It's a fascinating spot for those interested in Iceland's engineering projects and remote scenery.
