Borgarfjarðarbrú is a modern cable-stayed bridge that dramatically crosses the mouth of Borgarfjörður, connecting the town of Borgarnes to the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Opened in 1980, it replaced a ferry service and now offers drivers and pedestrians a breathtaking vantage point over the deep blue waters and surrounding peaks. The bridge is a popular photo stop, especially at sunset when the light paints the landscape in golden hues.
Don't miss
- Stop at the bridge's viewing area to photograph the fjord and mountains.
- Watch for seabirds and seals in the waters below.
- Drive across the bridge at sunset for spectacular light on the landscape.
