Fisherman's Bastion is a neo-Gothic terrace in Budapest's Buda Castle District, constructed between 1895 and 1902 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian state. Its seven fairy-tale turrets represent the seven Magyar chieftains who founded Hungary. Visitors can climb the towers for sweeping views across the Danube to the Parliament building and Pest. The white stone structure, with its decorative stairways and lookout points, is a favorite spot for photography and romantic strolls, especially at sunset when the city lights begin to twinkle.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic views of the Danube, Parliament, and Pest from the upper terraces
  • Seven turrets symbolizing the Magyar chieftains, each offering a unique perspective
  • Statue of King Stephen I on horseback at the base of the bastion
