Kam Shan Country Park, often called 'Monkey Hill,' is a rugged green space famous for its free-roaming troops of long-tailed macaques. Visitors can hike along trails that wind through secondary forest and across grassy hillsides, with occasional panoramic views of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. The macaques are the park's main attraction, they are accustomed to people but should be observed from a distance and not fed. The park also contains several old war relics, including bunkers and trenches from World War II. Its distinctive character lies in the unexpected encounter with wildlife so close to the urban area, giving it a unique, slightly wild feel.

Don't miss

  • Observe troops of wild macaques along the main trails, keep a respectful distance.
  • Hike up to the hilltop for sweeping views of Kowloon and the harbor.
  • Discover abandoned WWII bunkers and trenches hidden among the trees.
