The Basilica of Our Lady of Suyapa, located in the Suyapa neighborhood of Tegucigalpa, is one of the most important religious sites in Honduras. Built in the 20th century, it houses the revered statue of the Virgin of Suyapa, the country's patron saint, which was discovered in 1747. Pilgrims from across Honduras and Central America visit to pray and attend mass, especially during the feast day in February. The basilica's modern architecture and serene atmosphere make it a place of both spiritual reflection and cultural significance.
