Volcán Tolimán is a dormant volcano that rises dramatically on the southern shore of Lake Atitlán. Its less-traveled trail provides a more solitary hiking experience through dense forest and volcanic rock, culminating in a summit with breathtaking 360-degree views of the lake and the peaks of San Pedro and Atitlán. The hike is strenuous and typically takes 6–8 hours round trip, requiring a guide for route-finding and safety.
Don't miss
- Panoramic summit views of Lake Atitlán, Volcán San Pedro, and Volcán Atitlán
- Hike through unique volcanic terrain and cloud forest with fewer crowds
- Spot wildlife like howler monkeys and quetzals along the trail
