San Benito is the easternmost of the three connected towns, just beyond Santa Elena, and serves as a major transport node for the Petén region. Its streets are filled with tuk-tuks, buses, and trucks, reflecting its role as a logistics center. The town has a gritty, authentic charm, with a large market offering everything from hardware to fresh fish. Visitors can find inexpensive comedores (small restaurants) serving regional dishes like pepián and caldo de res.
