The Apollon Theater is a historic opera house in Ermoupoli, completed in 1864 and designed by Italian architect Pietro Sampò, inspired by Milan's La Scala. Its horseshoe-shaped auditorium, with three tiers of private boxes and a painted ceiling, seats about 350. Today it hosts concerts, plays, and the annual Syros International Film Festival. Visitors can take guided tours to admire the neoclassical interior, including the frescoes and crystal chandeliers, or attend a performance to experience its superb acoustics.
