Halfway between Chora and Skala, the Cave of the Apocalypse is a revered pilgrimage site. According to tradition, Saint John the Theologian lived here in exile and received visions that became the Book of Revelation. The cave features a rock cleft said to have been used by John as a pillow, and a silver icon marks the spot. Visitors descend into the quiet, dimly lit grotto, where the atmosphere invites reflection on the biblical narrative.
Don't miss
- The silver icon marking where John received the Revelation
- The natural rock formations, including the three cracks said to represent the Trinity
- The small chapel built into the cave entrance
