The Philippeion is a distinctive circular structure in Olympia, commissioned by Philip II of Macedon after his victory at Chaeronea. It housed chryselephantine statues of Philip, his son Alexander, and other family members, symbolizing their divine status. Visitors can see the foundations and partial remains, including the Ionic columns that once surrounded the building. Its unique design and political significance set it apart from other monuments in the sanctuary.
