The Pantanassa Monastery, meaning 'Queen of All,' is a 15th-century convent located in the middle section of Mystras. Built around 1428, it is one of the best-preserved structures in the site and remains an active nunnery. The church features a unique architectural style that combines Byzantine domes with Gothic pointed arches and decorative brickwork. Inside, visitors can see original frescoes from the 15th century, including a striking depiction of the Second Coming. The monastery's terrace offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Evrotas Valley and the surrounding mountains.

Don't miss

  • Admire the intricate brickwork and stone carvings on the church's exterior, blending Byzantine and Gothic styles.
  • View the fresco of the Second Coming in the narthex, a dramatic and detailed composition.
  • Step onto the terrace for one of the best photo opportunities in Mystras, overlooking the valley and the Taygetus range.
