Plaka is the capital of Milos, perched on a hillside overlooking the bay. Its labyrinthine streets are lined with whitewashed houses adorned with blue doors and bougainvillea. The village is car-free in parts, encouraging leisurely exploration. At the top, the ruins of a Venetian castle offer sweeping views of the island and sea. Plaka is also home to the Archaeological Museum of Milos, which displays artifacts including a replica of the Venus de Milo. Small shops and traditional tavernas add to its authentic Cycladic charm.
