Thouria is an archaeological site near Kalamata, once a significant Mycenaean settlement. The remains include a fortified acropolis on a hill, with walls and foundations dating to the 2nd millennium BCE. Visitors can explore the site and see chamber tombs carved into the rock, as well as later Hellenistic and Roman structures. The location offers panoramic views of the Messenian plain. Though less visited than other Greek sites, Thouria provides a raw, uncommercialized glimpse into ancient history.
