Anemospilia is an archaeological site on the northern slope of Mount Juktas, about 8 kilometers south of Heraklion. This Minoan temple complex, dating to around 1700 BCE, features three rooms and a central courtyard, with evidence of ritual activities including animal sacrifices. The site offers panoramic views of the Heraklion plain and the sea. Visitors can explore the stone foundations and learn about Minoan religious practices through informational panels. The remote, quiet setting enhances the sense of stepping back into ancient times.
