The Theatre of Dionysus sits on the southern slope of the Acropolis and is considered the world's first theater, where the works of Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides premiered. Visitors see the carved stone seats, the orchestra circle, and the remnants of the stage building, all set against a backdrop of the Acropolis. Though partly ruined, the site evokes the grandeur of ancient performances and offers a tangible connection to the origins of Western drama.
