Schloßplatz is the historic heart of Wiesbaden, a spacious square surrounded by impressive architecture. Dominating the square is the Stadtschloss (City Palace), the former residence of the Dukes of Nassau, now housing the Hessian state parliament. Opposite stands the Marktkirche, a striking neo-Gothic church with a tall spire. The square also features the Heidenmauer, remnants of a Roman wall, and a lively market atmosphere.
