The Duchess Anna Amalia Library is a masterpiece of Rococo architecture and one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. Located in the heart of Weimar, it holds over one million volumes, with a focus on German literature from the 18th century. The centerpiece is the magnificent Rococo Hall, a three-story oval room adorned with intricate woodwork, frescoes, and thousands of leather-bound books. Visitors can gaze up at the ornate ceiling painting and feel the scholarly atmosphere that once inspired Goethe and Schiller, who both used the library extensively. The library also features a special exhibition on the history of the book and a collection of musical instruments. What makes it distinctive is its intimate scale and the sense of stepping back into the Enlightenment era.
