Spitzberg is a prominent hill on the southern edge of Tübingen, rising above the Neckar River. It is a favorite local destination for hiking, trail running, and leisurely walks, with a network of well-marked paths that wind through vineyards, orchards, and mixed forest. The summit rewards visitors with sweeping views of Tübingen's old town, the Neckar valley, and the Swabian Alb beyond. Along the way, you'll pass terraced vineyards that produce local wines, especially the Trollinger and Lemberger varieties. In autumn, the hillside glows with golden foliage and ripe grapes. The Spitzberg is also home to a small observation tower, the Spitzbergturm, which provides an even higher vantage point. It's a perfect spot for a picnic or a sunset hike.
Don't miss
- Panoramic view from the Spitzbergturm observation tower
- Hiking trails through vineyards and forest, with interpretive signs about local flora
- Wine tasting at local wineries along the slopes (seasonal)
- Sunset views over Tübingen's old town
- Wildflower meadows in spring and early summer
