The Basilica of St. Paulinus is a stunning Baroque church in Trier, often overshadowed by the city's Roman sites but well worth a visit. Built between 1734 and 1753, it was designed by architect Balthasar Neumann, known for the Würzburg Residence. The interior is a masterpiece of Rococo decoration, with vibrant frescoes by Christoph Thomas Scheffler depicting scenes from the life of St. Paulinus. The high altar and side chapels are richly adorned. The church also houses a historic organ built by Johann Michael Stumm, which is still used for concerts. The basilica is a parish church, so it feels alive with local worship. Its location in the quiet Paulin district offers a peaceful visit.
