The Sources of the Danube in Donaueschingen mark the official beginning of Europe's second-longest river. The main attraction is the Danube Spring (Donaubach), which emerges from a karst spring in the palace gardens of Donaueschingen. Visitors can see the spring basin surrounded by a neoclassical stone setting, where the water bubbles up clear and cold. The adjacent park offers walking paths, manicured lawns, and a small pond, making it a peaceful spot for a stroll. A notable feature is the sculpture of the Danube Mother (Donauquelle) and the inscription marking the river's origin. The site is well-maintained and includes informational plaques about the river's course. It's a popular stop for cyclists and hikers following the Danube Cycle Path or the European long-distance trail E1.
