Maria in der Tanne (Mary in the Fir Tree) is a striking pilgrimage church located on a hill in Triberg. Built in the Baroque style, the church is named after a legend: a miraculous image of the Virgin Mary was found in a fir tree in the 17th century. The current building, completed in 1705, features a distinctive onion-domed tower and a richly decorated interior with frescoes, stucco work, and a high altar. The church is a place of quiet reflection and devotion, attracting pilgrims and visitors alike. The surrounding grounds offer peaceful gardens and views over the town. Inside, the miraculous image is enshrined above the altar, and the walls are lined with votive offerings from those who believe their prayers were answered.
