St. Mary's Church is one of the largest brick Gothic churches in northern Germany, dominating the Stralsund skyline with its towering spire. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the church features a soaring nave, intricate vaulted ceilings, and a wealth of medieval art, including a magnificent astronomical clock from the 14th century. The main draw for many visitors is the climb up the 104-meter tower, which rewards with sweeping views over the city, the Strelasund strait, and the island of Rügen. Inside, the church is light and airy, with whitewashed walls and tall windows that create a serene atmosphere. It remains an active place of worship, so visitors should be respectful during services.
