Rheingauer Dom, officially St. John the Baptist's Church, is a stunning Gothic basilica in the town of Geisenheim, near Rüdesheim. Despite its name ('Dom' means cathedral), it is a parish church, but its size and grandeur rival many cathedrals. The church was built in the 15th and 16th centuries, featuring a soaring nave, intricate vaulted ceilings, and beautiful stained glass windows that depict biblical scenes. The interior is light and airy, with a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection. The high altar and side chapels are richly decorated. The church also houses a notable organ. Visitors can attend mass or simply admire the architecture. The surrounding square is lively, with cafes and shops, making it a pleasant stop in Geisenheim.
