The Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Dear Lady) is the largest church in Munich and a symbol of the city. Its two distinctive onion-domed towers, standing 99 meters tall, dominate the skyline and are visible from afar. The cathedral was built in the late Gothic style in the 15th century and is known for its simplicity and grandeur. Inside, visitors can see the Devil's Footstep, a mysterious black mark near the entrance, and the tomb of Emperor Ludwig IV. The south tower is open to the public and offers a 360-degree view of Munich and the Alps on clear days. The climb involves 306 steps, but the reward is a breathtaking perspective. The interior features soaring vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, and a serene atmosphere that contrasts with the bustling city outside.

Don't miss

  • Climb the south tower for panoramic views of Munich and the Alps
  • Find the Devil's Footstep near the entrance
  • Admire the Gothic architecture and stained glass windows
