Luttensee is a serene alpine lake nestled in the Karwendel mountains, about 5 kilometers from Mittenwald. Surrounded by dense forest and meadows, it offers a tranquil escape from busier tourist spots. The lake is relatively small, with crystal-clear water that reflects the surrounding peaks. A well-maintained trail circles the lake, making for an easy, family-friendly walk. In summer, the water warms enough for a refreshing swim, and there are grassy banks ideal for picnics. The area is less crowded than other lakes in the region, such as Ferchensee, providing a more secluded experience. Birdwatchers may spot species like the common kingfisher or grey heron. The trail to Luttensee is also part of longer hiking routes into the Karwendel range.
