Botanischer Garten Marburg is the university's current botanical garden, relocated to the outskirts of the city in the 1970s. Spanning 20 hectares, it features a wide array of plant collections arranged by geography, ecology, and taxonomy. Visitors can explore the arboretum with trees from around the world, a Japanese garden, an alpine rock garden, and a medicinal plant section. The greenhouses house tropical and subtropical species, including cacti, orchids, and carnivorous plants. The garden also includes a systematic department that illustrates plant relationships. Well-marked trails guide visitors through different biotopes, from heathland to a small lake. It's a living laboratory for students and a tranquil destination for nature lovers, with benches and picnic spots throughout.
