Marienrode Priory is a serene former Cistercian monastery located on the outskirts of Hildesheim. The complex features a stunning Baroque church with ornate stucco work and a tranquil cloister garden. Visitors can explore the church's interior, admire the high altar and frescoes, and walk through the peaceful arcades. The priory is also home to a brewery that produces traditional beers using centuries-old recipes. A visit includes a tour of the brewery (by appointment) and a chance to sample the beers in the on-site tavern. The surrounding grounds include a small lake and walking trails, making it a perfect half-day excursion. The atmosphere is calm and spiritual, with the scent of hops and history in the air.
