Speicherstadt is a historic warehouse district in Hamburg, built between 1883 and 1927 on timber-pile foundations. It is the largest warehouse complex in the world, with a network of canals and red-brick Gothic Revival buildings that create a unique and atmospheric environment. Today, the warehouses still store goods like coffee, tea, and spices, but the area also houses museums, including the Miniatur Wunderland and the Hamburg Dungeon. Visitors can take boat tours through the canals to see the buildings from the water, or stroll along the bridges and cobblestone streets. The district is especially beautiful at night when illuminated, and it offers a glimpse into Hamburg's trading history.
